Quality Sigurdsson Considered Not Worth To Play At Everton

Former Newcastle United midfielder Joey Barton admits he is not surprised to see Gylfi Sigurdsson struggle with Everton this season.

Sigurdsson joined Everton from Swansea City in the transfer market yesterday with a value of 40 million pounds. But the Icelandic midfielder has so far only managed to score one goal and one assist in nine appearances for The Toffees.

Barton feels that Sigurdsson is the type of player who needs a well-established team so he can grow. Speaking on talkSPORT, Barton said: “Sigurdsson has not achieved the best performance, it does not surprise me.

“I never considered him a great caliber player. I think he should be a great player in a small team, but at Everton the team is not built around him so he can not show his talent. ”

What Barton said was true. So far Sigurdsson’s stats are also talking. In addition to a new can create a goal and one assist, the former Tottanham player was only mencipatakn 10 opportunities or almost just one in every game that he lived. For a player who plays as a number 10 player the record is certainly bad enough.

Everton themselves are currently still falling in 16th place with a collection of just seven points from seven games. (Source: Italian Football)
